I've been working on my little T-RPU again, using a Mopar box for a cowl steering setup. I need a pitman arm to cut the splined portion out of...but I keep whatching the pitman arms for these mopar boxes going for $150 plus on ebay. So I'm wondering if anyone here knows of another pitman arm that will work. Box is the '62-'72 manual box...36 splines and tapers from about 1.075 to 1.10 inches. I'd rather not spend a day at pick and pull pulling pitman arms to find out none match.

    Thanks - Jeff

When I converted my 67 Coronet 2dr post from an LA motor to a 383, I also converted from manual steering to power to enable my daughter to use it for her everyday back and forth to high school car (also converted from manual drum to power disc but that's another story). Anyway getting back to the point, although there were 2 sector shaft possibilties depending on what year box (I think I remember someone saying the larger one started about 1971), it didn't matter if it was power or manual, A, B, or C body, and I easily found a power steering box to fit my car. If your having trouble finding one specifically for a manual box, try grabbing one from a power steering box, at least in these parts they're not that hard to find.
And thanks for the idea, now I'm gonna go looking for a steering box/pitman arm like my 90 Dodge 4X4 has (fore/aft draglink).

And thanks twofosho...I wondered if the power boxes were the same.

Nimrod--Since I haven`t been back here until recently,I was wondering if you had some more detailed pics of the Cowl Steering install.I really like the look of the whole package--especially the partial channel to match the swage in the 32 frame.I have an alum mopar box that will be used on the next project (a29based modifed for myself...) so I would be interested to see what you find out.

I just tacked everything in this week and haven't finished building the framework...when I do I'll post a picture or two.
