I am no radiator man, but those who are are going to want to know dimensions,# of tubes, etc. so they can calculate your cooling. Save yourself some HAMBgrief and go out and measure it.

When I got an aluminum rad made the builder said the rads are rated by horsepower, not engine size. Is your stock big block comparable H.P. to the small block?

    Hi

I am going through this now. I am putting a 392 hemi in a 1952 Plymouth wagon. The Plymouth system was 15 quarts and the Chrysler system the hemi came from was 25 quarts. I was told by a radiator guy this same HP thing, he said comparing the old radiators with aluminum ones was like comparing apples and oranges. I spoke recently with our local radiator expert and he confirmed this, he says the stock size Plymouth radiator in aluminum will easily cool the hemi. I recently put an aluminum radiator in my 1964 Ranchero, that has a late model hot rodded 302 in it, and it cools it fine, even though there is no shroud.

It should work fine, I have used a 19x19 aluminum radiator on a 440 chrylser without issues even after adding ac.
