Need recommendations for US-1 (Cali guys???)

Arrived safely in San Simeon around 7 local time... the last few miles were a bit sketchy... wish we could have made an entire day of making stops on US-1. Definately a handling cars type of road... not for the faint of heart or those with a suicide front end!!! (LOL) Came up around a corner to find the Bixby Creek Bridge closed... they were shooting commercial footage for Porsche... had a nice long talk with the cop as I was the first car in line. No car on site... it's all done in CG apparently. Tomorrow after breakfast we'll backtrack north a bit to see the Elephant Seals (I heard them at a stop a few miles from here while making a pee-break) What an awesome road and slice of Americana... an old fellow I met at the bar after dinner said it used to take two-three days to make that drive. Also met another Aussie... never met one I didn't like.
