Is it possible to hyjack your own post?

sickboy, The trans tunnel didnt need anything done to it, but you must use the smaller C4 with the flathead because it sits so far back. The 302 sits a little further forward, so you can get away with using the larger C4 bellhousing. I think the bellhousing on the smaller trans has a 28X printed on it. Its a tight squeeze and you might need to bore a few holes with a hole saw to get access to the bellhousing bolts, but it works great. I have a tilt colum out of a ford pickup and everything works out nicely.

In my opinion, you should stick with the flathead or the 302, but to each his own, build it however you want. I saw a guy last summer that had an olds rocket in his...pretty cool.

Hey man, as soon as I get your mom off my thumb I'll be glad to sit on it.

By the way: You really added a lot to this post by reposting pic.'s that others put up w/ your .02 opinion. Way to go champ.

Keep the pix comin guys, I love this post. Funny, when I was a kid I wouldn't look twice at a shoebox. I guess I'm getting smarter. Henry did a good job but I think he'd like this post also.

You guys are making it hard to have to sell mine.

One thing I don`t like is removing the rain gutter.
I think it really loses something.

heres a shoebox I chopped last year...

    3 1/2 outta the front
    6 in the rear
    kantered post
used a chev fast back window in it.. saved the DRIP RAIL and cut down the quarter windows... very important for it to LOOK right...
it was inspired by one of the kartbreakers cars...

Am I the only one who thinks that the coupes look right sitting on a rubber rake with a little 'hot rod' attitude? I'm still working on achieving my "1960-1962" look...but it'll all come together some day.

I personally don't think that the coupes should be chopped unless they are hard-topped as well. (i.e. the Buster Litton coupe) The quarter window usually comes out looking too small...there have been a few that slanted the b-pillars that looked pretty good, though. (the coral and black one that belongs to a HAMBer comes to mind)

    BTW, great post fellas...

    Bass,

I think your car looks fantastic. I like em with a little rake myself. I think that's one of the shoebox's best attributes. A person can do anything with them. Your car looks like a "street fighter" to me. Tuff!

cole cutlers red pro-street shoebox looked good with a rake... one of my alltime fav' that dissapeared with the dare to be different era. BOSS 429... that car RULED, anyone have pics of it?

Bass` I like it both ways... haha you're gonna hate this pic i know

aesteticly lowered the trim lines/ass end look better, everyone has there own ideas of what cool is, with your frenched tial lights, saved handles... its a natural mild kustom.

with the ass up it looks like a drag car~

    Tuck,

Cole Cutler's red shoebox was a big influence on me. That thing was wicked...I wonder what happened to it?

Speaking of wicked red shoeboxes...have you seen the red '50 coupe that's on a rake with the SOHC 427 in it that's been in a few of the mags lately? It's got polished Americans on it....looks pretty good to me. Kinda pro-street-ish, but still cool.

When I load my trunk down with a bunch of shit it actually sits a lot like that top pic. I really don't like it that much though because it brings the front bumper up a couple of inches. Besides...I want it to say "HOT ROD!!!" not "hot rod??" [IMG]

Thanks for the positive comments...I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks shoeboxes make good hot rod material.

actuly idont know if that green quad headlighted on is in fact sectioned. the long looking trunk gives it that effect but i think its becasue it is a realy chopped coupe, not a sedan.

    just my thoughts

any body got pix of the quad headlight/tube grill green shoe box from the early 60s late fifites, some famouse builder put it together had funny looking concave flares behind the wheels??

some one posted it a while back and i was trying to find a good shot of the front end.
