The rubber seals are a little more easier to find than the proper aluminum "shaft" they fit on. I would be willing to buy a hole master just for the proper gut's!

Doug, if you got the engine out of a truck, the truck will likely have a higher pressure pressure plate due to the fact that it was expected to be hauling a load. What size clutch is it? If its 11 inch it's going to be a higher pressure set up. The other thing that comes to mind is with your limited room on the drivers side have you thought about putting the lever and slave on the passenger side? If you have enough clearance between the road and bottom of the transmission consider using the longer Lincoln clutch arm upside down. Relocate the slave to the engine side versus the trans side so it will still move the arm in the right direction.

I dont know what size the clutch is, I didn't measure it. That is an interesting thought about moving it to the other side, I never thought about that. But it would not help as the floor is the same height on that side. Interesting thought though. Relocating the slave to the engine side is possible. I am going to continue down the path of using the MGA slave until something stops me. I should have the 39-48 front flex line soon and I think it is all going to work together. I will post once I know or not. It sure all bolts up. I have the MGA slave mounted.

Seems like anyone that is running a flathead three speed with a period correct looking hydraulic clutch Master cylinder ( about 1" dia) would have run into this problem. If it was a high boy I could just lengthen the arm on the shaft. Maybe its the combination of using all ford flathead drive line together with lowering it that causes this problem. I certainly don't believe I am inventing anything new here.

Doesn't moving it to the other side let you relocate the arm (arm coming off the shaft) down instead of up?

Yes, and you would then meed to push the arm aft.

Well it worked. 1957 ford truck pedals with the original brake and clutch master cylinders. 1/4" brake line going into a 39-48 ford car front brake flex line, plugged into a 1955 MGA clutch slave cylinder. And don't forget that impossible to identify if you don't know what you need, "Ford nut" screwed into both master cylinder castings. (they go between the master cylinder castings and the 1/4" brake line. One end of the front brake flex line is 7/16-20 (going into the MGA slave) and the other end is 7/16-24 which receives the 1/4" hard line. It feels just right and works great to move the pressure plate! I hope this helps out someone building their car with firewall mounted hydraulic clutch with a ford flathead tranny.
