OK Boys here it is. I had to sell my Fords (36 5W Coupe an 51 F1) to make my house payments ect. until my disability kicked in. Still rubin pennies but I am makin it. I have had 3 oprations on my back, the last one was titanium rods and screws, not to mention my right roter cuff is shot to hell. I will be 60 years old this year and no one will take a chance on hireing me, so disability was my only option. I did not think not having an old car to mess around with would be something I could not live without BUT I WAS WRONG!!!!! Enough of the poor pity me crap! Here is the deal.....I have found a 51 Plymouth 3 Window Coupe not far from me. And I kinda like the 3 Window models. The guy that ownes it sent me some pic's of it. He has subframed it with some kind of Chevy subframe, so it has power disk brakes and power stering and a 305 with an automatic trans not sure what kind yet, I haven't been to look at it. The front sheet metal was not put back on in the pic's and I think it is still off, but that is no big deal. He says the body work is done, ready to repaint and the floors and trunk have deen replaced ect... That remains to be seen! I have ALWAYS been a Ford guy and I don't know anything about other makes. So after all this rambling...... I can afford this Plymouth/Chevy. But all my Fords have been powered by Fords from flathead 8's to 351C's. If I can convince my wife to let me get this car (remember I am on a fixed income) what I want to do is to put a Mopar engine in it (when I can afford it if the 305 runs OK) what will I run into as far as motor mounts and room under the hood goes. I will want to run headers of course and at least a 318 but a 383 or 440 sounds better to me. What is the best Mopar Transmision and rear end to use behind the 383 or 440? It won't be built to the gills, just a street cam that hits a good lick and a 4 barrel with flowmasters? Do they sound good on a Mopar motor? I think they sound better on a Ford than a Chevy but I don't know about Mopars. I know the stock rear probably wont hold up to the bigger V8's. Any advice to this old Ford guy would be very helpful, thanks in advance for your help. I haven't been on here in a while but I have always got good info or advise form you guys. I know you won't let me down on this either. Thanks again guys!!
