I need some advice on what to use for insulation on my floors, I'm not going to use dyna mat until they lower the price significantly. they think that stuff is gold. I need something that is not very expensive. I have some roll on bed liner i bought from wal-mart,but i hear that it will stink really bad all the time. 2.Once you coat your interior with the POR15, what do you use for the underbelly? i was told some rattlecan spray on undercoating from autozone will work. I'm out of the POR15 or I would use it.
I used roll on bedliner by Plasticoat for the underside and interior of the '36. Spray bombed the places I couldn't hit with the roller. It doesn't "stink" any more than any paint. Two coats, looks great to me. Really made a difference in the "tinny" feel the body had with fabricated floors/firewall. I'm using a sound deadener/insulation I bought from an RV supply/salvage place that looks like Dynamat, but cost me less than 5 bucks a 3'x3' piece. Self adhesive, foil faced, used in RV walls and exterior panels. I have it on the floor of the wagon, and have enough to do the floor of the '36 as well. I'm going to use rubber floor mats, with the insulation/sound deadener sheets stuck to THAT, rather than the floor, as it's a roadster and is exposed to the elements, so I can remove and let them dry. If you shop, the bedliner stuff is around 60 bucks a gallon, which is reasonable, and it does work IF you follow the application directions. It works great as undercoating, I think.

Well maybe I misunderstood you. I thought you meant cheap instead of a deal on quality. You can get by with foil/bubble on panels and top but not on the floor, the bubbles will burst. Have you looked into the type of underlayment they use in newer cars? Sorry I can't think of what it's called right now
Generally less expensive than DynaMat, and made right here in the heartland. http://www.hushmat.com/ Or even cheaper, in the roofing section of Lowes or Home depot, ask for "Peel and Seal", or "Quick Fix". Both are very similar to the products sold for cars, but I have never used them. I have only seen referances to them on forums like this. Another option would be homemade "Lizard Skin". Why would you coat the interior of your car with the good stuff, then coat the exposed part of the floor with cheap stuff??? If you want sound deadening, the main function of the mat is to add panel weight so it's harder to vibrate. You can find lower cost products but they're generally lower density or thickness, thus less weight. A good compromise is one of the lower quality peel-n-stick deadeners against the metal, covered with 1 layer of quality jute, 2 layers across footwells. Jute is comparably cheap, insulates against heat, and "plushes up" the carpet. Pep boys stocks suprisingly good foil-faced jute in 4x6 rolls for less than the super-bargain street rod booths at shows. good luck
Don't put any Lowes or Home depot, ask for "Peel and Seal", or "Quick Fix" on your roof, they are asphalt based and will fall off in August. See sound deadener showdown for a huge writeup. I plan on using "Lizard Skin Alternative" everywhere and Peel and Seal on the floor, and something like HAMBer Lobucrod's offering on the doors and roof. I want mine quiet and well- insulated.
PM Lobucrod here on the HAMB. He sells a good, inexpensive insulation. Underneath, I use POR-15 and then shoot undercoat or bedliner over it when it's tacky. If you let it dry too long, almost nothing sticks well to it!
I used a product called ARMAFLEX. It is the black foam stuff they use on your air conditioner lines between the unit and the house. It comes in rolls that are 54 inches wide. I did my O/T Corvair with it and it is totally quiet. I used contact cement to put it down and then carpet over the top on the floor. The stuff that I glued in the doors and quarters is still there and stuck like hell. You should be able to find it or another name at any Home Depot or Lowes. Not real expensive. It deadens the ring that metal has to a dull thud !
So far you've got Lizard Skin, Por15, undercoating, bedliner, and Armorflex. That's quite a bunch of good choices...
