I am trying to get my new electronic Speedometer to work and the Pulse Generator will not work in my Stock 1953 Ford 3 Speed Trans.
Sometimes works if I do not tighten it into the transmission.
Afraid to leave it loose and have it fall off when driving.
Anyone know what will make it work when tightened?

The pulse generator is from Ford.
They told me to buy another Gear. That did not help.
Has anyone had these same problems?
Original Gear drives the cable fine.
Same number of teeth on the new gear.

well in that case, is it going into the trans to far? might try putting a washer under the clamp or whatever holds it down and see if that helps. if you match up the generator and the original cable end are they the same depth?

I Have altered the pulse generator and the gear so it looks like the original. Made the length the same and placed the gear in the same position as original. It appears that the small difference in size of the gears may be the problem.
