Hi yall. I have recently acquired a 1929 plymouth coupe roadster. I believe its a model U?. I'm looking to do a few things to it and I'm wondering if model A 29 parts can fit some things I want to change. Such as a hood I would like the top steel only with no sides pieces. I found many for ford model A amd wondering if a 29 model A will fit this vehicle. Also would any 29 dash fist looking to replace.the dash
Interesting car. Do you have any more pics, like from the side or rear? The 1/4 panel looks odd. My avatar coupe is a '31 Plymouth(same basic body).....it has a '32 Chevy hood top on it. Fits pretty good. These cars are a little larger than a model A, so most body parts won't be close.
A one piece hood top is a fairly simple panel to make with hand tools. Make a good paper pattern and transfer it to metal. Here is a thread from @Marty Strode building a hood for his Model A. He is using slip rolls to put the curve in, but many guys hand form over a round cylindrical object. Even the steel post holding up the carport or a utility pole will work. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ld-marty-strode.1177811/page-26#post-14781875
Very possible. I'm not knocking it, actually looks like it was done pretty well. Just different than stock. Looks like a fun car!
Even Chip Foose in one of his Overhaulin episode made a custom hood using a suport post to shape a hood
Re: the hood scoop, I wonder if the low pressure area behind it allow the engine to pull more air? Ala cowl induction?
HRM in the ‘70’s ran a car with scoop and a couple other ways, one being cowl induction and cowl induction was the quickest. Maybe they were putting Yuniks ideas to a test?
Yup the guy I got it off of had it like that itnwas the first thing I asked. He said warm air pulls great lol I dunno it's coming off soon
I'm no help on your hood situation, but you got a nice Mopar there. Curious, what size LA motor do you have in there?
That is a great car. I'd look for a Plymouth grill, and forget about trying turn it into a ford. If you take it to a show, you'll realize how unique that machine is.
Your scoop is on backwards Not a bad thing to do if it is raining. It looks to me that the opening is too close to your fire wall . Turn it around and try it . Very cool car ! Love the color and stance !
