they were for the "locater" pin which bolted on. You should have a piece welded to the trunk jam in the corosponding spot for the receiver.

Personally, I'd add it back on - it adds to the stability of trunk lid when closed, rather than just relying on the latch to hold everything in alignment. Might also prevent chasing a stray rattle or squeak...

I cut them off of my car because I'm going to use a different latch. Not so sure that was wise.....anyway, I THINK I kept both pieces if you need them. Might take a minute to find them tho.........

If anyone has one of these cars with all the stainless on it and original and doesn't mind taking pics around car fairly close up it would be much appreciated and either post them or email them to me . I have a 54 belair 2dr hardtop . It's been a while since I took it all apart about 4 years and need a map or pics to figure out what I have as I have some duplicates etc... Plan is to fit it all first fix any damaged pieces then get car ready for body shop in feb .

Thanks that helps with the chrome trim I've had the car for about 6 years had the frame and most of it done in 2009 then it sat due to other work in shop etc... .
I see two little tangs sticking up on trunk area I ***ume these are for the rubber bumpers as I can see holes in my trunk lid around same area . If anyone has ever had the experience of removing the screws from trim that break on one of these cars its a real pain in the **** . I'm not sure what they used for metal back then but the hardness is ridiculous lol . I would like to find a manual for how to ***emble the window regs tracks etc.... if you guys know of one ?
