hey everyone. im building a 51 chevy 3100 truck. need some suspension suggestions im on some what of a low budget. right now my truck is on a s10 chassis and im not real big on it. it seems like its gonna take a lot of fab work to make it work. plus to run a decent motor you have to modify quite a bit. i also have a 53 frame that had the orignal front end taken out to replace it with the mustang II front end. i got a heidts cross member but never recieved the spring buckets for the coils. the guy gave me mustang suspension out of a 79 mustang. looks pretty rough. i also have another 51 chevy all original to use for parts. was thinking about just doing a 4" drop front axle with disc brakes and new springs in the front. i figured it would keep it somewhat traditional. im not looking to do an award winning build. basiclly just trying to make a cruiser. i hear of alot of people doing front clip transplants. anyone have any pictures of this process to help me? heard of doing camaro and nova front clips. im basically looking for a low ride height. doesn't really matter to me how bumpy of a ride it will have. as long as it looks good. not gonna be taking it to the track. sorry about how long this is, im just trying to get most of my questions out now. haha. hope i get some help. thanks Bob
There is some good info here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=294539 on setting up an AD cab on a S 10 chassis. Jeffs51Chevy shared his designs for the cab an bed mounts complete with drawings and several guys have used them since then. They are fairly simple an inexpensive to build yourself or have a welding shop build for you. There is a lot more AD truck on S 10 Frame info in that forum too. Plenty here on the HAMB if you dig it out but it is far more concentrated there. And welcome to the HAMB by the way.
Lots of info in the AD Truckers Social group. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=132 Lots of pics of the S10 swap in mi sig below.
