Need Some Help!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cometkid, Sep 5, 2012.

  1. I am looking to replace the 170 ci engine in my 1962 Mercury Comet but i have little knowledge about the proper replacement engine. Im 18 and still learning about the car world so what ever advice I can gain is valuable to me. I have a C4 tranny from a 67 Falcon that I have sitting in my shed id like to put in.So the question is what size engine could be a proper swap and bolt up to the C4?

  2. The small block Ford came out in 62 at 221 cubic inches and the exterior dimensions should be the same for the 302 so how about a sbf v8 in it?

Since you already have a C4 I would look for a 289. I have not done that swap but it shouldn't be major.

Yes,...a 289, or a 302. Either should be as close to "bolt-in" as it gets.
