Hi Guys Been looking out a manual for the 63 panel van. Cant seem to get one for a month over here. So i was wondering, could someone give me some details please. It has a standard 3 speed manual trans. Could do with knowing, the top speed and what size the rear tire diameter should be, as standard? Also could someone scan or give me full wiring diagram for the engine. As i have trawled through the internet. Cant seem to find one for the right year, or even one thats close to it. It has a v8 in there. Hope you can help, just so as i can get the Van on the road, rather than waiting a month to get the manual for it. Hand brake also looks interesting too, how does that work any pics of that aswell. Cheers Guys Thanks for your help Roland
63 standard axle ratio is 3.73; also if you need axle shafts due to bearing wear the 63 is one-year-only! Use the tallest tires you can find. signal light switch is one year only also. There is nothing fancy or difficult on the engine harness, except there is a resistor wire taped up in the starter harness from the firewall outward. There are 2 different dash & engine harnesses; one for gauges, one for idiot lights. Look around on google. Search for GMC too. Handbrake is a simple trigger release handle running a main cable near the column, then goes to two near the trans.
www.67-72chevytrucks.com theres a section for earlier trucks too with lots of info available and lots of great vendors of chevy truck stuff
Also, check out stovebolt.com, they've got a lot of good info. There's also a website (linked by stovebolt) by a guy called Woogeroo, that has diagrams and such on it. I just rewired my '62 using a complete kit from American Autowire...I HIGHLY recommend it! Ease of installation, complete kit, and it's a real bit of confidence knowing the truck isn't going to consume itself. -Brad
I think this is the site with the diagrams that Brad54 is referring to: http://www.60-66chevytrucks.info ------------------ The Chevy / GMC Truck Parts Vendors List These sites are organized by the oldest year of Chevy/GMC model truck that they sell parts for.
