Man, I am having a hard time finding a tire shop that will put my new tires on a set of '34 wire rims.
Every one I have been to say their machine will bend the rims so I need a shop with the older style tire machine.

Know anyone in or around Huntington Beach?

    Thanks,

    Matt

If you go to the Donut Derelicts car show in Huntington Beach at Adams and Magnolia early Saturday morning I'm sure someone there will know of a good location you can go to.

  4. I did my friends '33 17" wire wheels years ago on a rim clamp machine (you can't use a 40/40 style center post machine). You just spread them out, drop the wheel in the center and close the clamps. It hooks the wheel from the bead area. Sadly you need to find an older tire shop who know what they're doing, look in Orange.

Yep, looking for a shop with the old style tire machine.
I have too many projects this week to do it myself and with Bonneville being cancelled, I have two weekends in a row at home to work on them.

  6. Mounted my 6.50X16" on K-H rims on my HF tire machine in a short time. You can get it from HF cheeper than a tire shop will mount two of your tires & on your rims. You can also do it the old fashion way with a couple of tire irons & a deadblow hammer. Buy some dyna-beads & you are all set.

Find the YouTube video about mounting tires with a trash bag. It's very easy and can be done at home.

  12. Matt,

You are lucky you are finding shops that are smart enough to know there is a problem and honest enough to tell you. Try to find an old shop that works on trucks and maybe there will be someone that has tires irons and remembers how to use them. Or, as others have suggested, buy a set of tire irons and do it yourself with the help of youtube videos.
