I hear ya man. Just don't want to do this one myself.... but may wind up doing that if I can't get a good reference here in Houston.
manual trannies are really not that hard to rebuild. I had to rebuild a t-5 for a final in my drivelines cl*** in college and it was fun.
The only difficult thing about rebuilding old manual transmissions, is figuring out just which parts you need to replace. It's not always obvious.
guy by the name of cajun jon (check the spelling permutations) hangs at all the DFW swap meets and rebuilds EVERY manual transmission every put in a car. Somebody else here on the HAMB will know his info.
