Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by meatball, Mar 28, 2011.

  1. OK here's the deal.I working on a project to show ONE (1) cl***ic hotrod movie here in town in a cl***ic restored (indoor) theater. They want to start with one film that I pick and believe will draw a crowd,so its gotta be something people have heard of (Besides American Graffiti) and people will want to see. This place is a killer venue and if this works they want to make it a regular event.SO what films would you PAY to see just like in the day and enjoy in a cl***ic setting while enjoyin a cold one if you like?? and WHO has acess to these in case our source cant find them??? Thanks guys/gals................so whata got??

Love Bikini Beach, gotta have a list before a vote.

  22. The beach movies are on the table but I want to start with something a bit older and then do a beach movie,I am a fan myself of Annette and Frankie movies............so far the short list is,Hot Rod Girl, lively Set,thunder road, and maybe American Graffitti (just to draw the public for the first night)........I need to pull at least 150 people just to break even,FYI Im not making a dime on this its all going to the theater since its city owned/restored now

  23. if it doesn't have to be car themed movies only what about monster movies.

    having some right now......:).

  24. like what "THE GIANT GILA MONSTER":D

It's not a hot rod movie, but "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" would be fun in your old theatre.

Yeah, one of the real early ones. High School Confidential (with Jerry Lee Lewis) and Hot Rod Gang with Gene Vincent were good in the day, but when you look at them now are pretty cornball - the music is cool though!!

I say California Kid or Thunder Road. I love those movies. Hey, or Beach Blanket Bingo, haha.

It might also depend on the quality of the print you'll have access to. I used to have access to the mgm/wb film vaults with really high quality prints and that made a huge difference when it came to the appeal of seeing it on the big screen. You might want to play it safe at first with a film that has been restored or has a high quality print (most likely Rebel or Graffiti). A bad print of even a good film can turn people off from returning to see other "old" films..

    Just a thought...

I'd pay to see High School confidential, but Rebel The Blob have the advantage of being in color (tend to have a broader appeal)..

  30. thanks for the input.......this is a major concern
