I have a stock 36 Chevy master deluxe coupe. The car runs thru all the gears fine , but when in second gear and I let off the gas I hear a chatter sound coming from the tranny or clutch area. While in second gear I put the clutch in and the chatter stops. First, third and reverse are fine. Any help greatly appreciated.

Clutch Chatter is Usually Caused by a Leaking Rear Main Seal. Why it Does Not Chatter in 1st, 3rd, or Reverse is Beyond Me.

hear chatter....I usually feel chatter as the clutch is engaged not after and since it doesn't happen in the other gears I am going to guess it is transmission not clutch
have you pulled the transmission drain plug and looked for glitter in the lube

Are you sure it's clutch chatter. Look at your linkage. One of the rods may be close enough to something that it is making the noise.
