Using a 1937 Willys beam axle in my car. Getting ready to assemble it before long.
Axle does not appear to have a front or back side, so makes no difference which side of axle faces the front? Is that correct?
How are the small dome shaped grease caps installed into the axle ends at both ends of the kingpins?
Kingpin retaining pins are normally knocked into the axle from the back side, correct?
Any other tips about this axle?

Every king pin retaining pin I have ever put in went in from the front with the nut in the back.

Do the spindles have a boss were the pin nuts stop things? That will determine which way they go in. Bob

No boss, but there is a hole drilled front to back. The kingpin has a notch which will align with the hole. When I got the axle, it had a tapered metal pin driven in the hole. It does not go all the way through, but rather stops when the taper is big enough to wedge in the axle.
    Thanks
