My son sold his car in November last year to a guy from this board's cusin. Unfortunately neither my son nor I remember either of the two guy's names. There were some extra parts that were in with the deal. They took some parts and disassembled some other parts (they ran out of room). They were planning on returning during the summer to get the rest of the stuff. I told them I would hold the parts for them until they could come back. I have not heard from either of them since. I have since lost the email address to contact them.

I am now trying to clean up some stuff around here and am wondering how long should I hold onto these parts. Am I expected to hold them forever? A year? 6 months? Don't want to burn this guy, but don't really want to hold his parts that he may or may not want for the next 20 years either.

    So, what would you do?

Depending on the parts - I'd think that if they really wanted or needed them, they would have been back or attempted to contact you long since. I'd say 6 months is more than fair. You can clear your conscience by posting and A.P.B. thread with the name of the car sold and when and asking anyone who might know these cats to contact them for you. Wait a couple weeks and bump it back to the top a few times, and then - you really will have done more than can be rightly expected of you as a seller. You're not a storage facility.

    Guiseart,
the guys showed up with cash, at my house, and hauled off the car. We had all the info, but my wife cleaned up the area around my computer (man, it was only about a foot deep) and the info is gone.

Gigantor, that is a good idea. I think I'm going to do that.

Dvaneck, the parts are 46-48 Plymouth!

Holly shit I forgot all about that stuff. I don't see my cousin to much or get to talk to him. The car has been put aside and I don't think he remebered those part. I know he been real busy with Army stuff and isn't home to much. I'll PM you his phone number. Sorry if I would have known this would have been taking care of.

Without a doubt, the HAMB is a wonderful thing. John PM'd me and I now have both the name and a phone number of the buyer. Soon I will know whats happening. I posted something like this about a month ago but didn't recieve a responce. Timing is everything.

    Thanks John.
