I found and installed a split front bench... I couldn't find a 56 bench but found a 57 and it fit by using the 56 tracks. The car is at the upholstery shop now getting a new headliner and the seats redone since they were rough and didn't match.

Last night I regeared it to 3.00 and put some 62 vintage valve covers on the motor, I also converted the old oil bath for a paper element and put it on.

These last few weeks I also helped a friend get his low mile 55 chevy pickup on the road.... I followed him out on it's maiden voyage to get some firewood.

I took it on a long run today (5+ hours) and it is doing well after I adjusted the worn tranny bands and fixed the air vents. I am liking the car more and more.

I have been running it a LOT and have been fixing all the issues that have come up.

    replaced the front brakes,

replaced some of the new ignition parts that went bad already!!!!

put a tranny kick-down rod on it

I replaced the speedometer with one that worked then it took a dump last week driving to hershey then fixed the old one and put it back in.

drivers door latch broke so I had to dismantle the door and remove it so I could weld it up and fix it.

changed fluids in it since I put a LOT of miles on it......put 1000 on this last week with hershey our Halloween reliability run and vacation.

here are out reliability run pics..

Congrats on the 56. One of my earliest memories(I was 4 at the time) is going with my older cousin to trade in his 49 pontiac on a new 56 babyblue and white Victoria like yours. It was a 312 automatic. He had a pair of pacemaker glasspacks and Olds flipper caps on the front before it had 500 miles on it. Traded it in on a tripower Pontiac in 61

Well the occasional blue smoke and oil smell when geared down descending the mountain has bugged me enough (worn valve guides and Shot valve stem seals) that I bought a cheap set of new aluminum heads and a cheap used weiand aluminum intake. This week or next I will swap it all out and make it less of an oil burner!!!

Well just came in. Got the heads and intake swapped and drove the car around a bit. The bigger valves and runners took away some of the cars bottom end but it really revs up and sounds a bit different, it is a bit louder when on the gas.

I put the autolite 2100 on an adapter and am running it on the 4v intake but I may try a 4v carb tomorow to see if that brings some of the low end back.

I will see tomorow morning if the smoke is gone on startup.......my fingers are crossed!!

I had a 4 door 56 but sold the 272 as it needed a major rebuild and i didnt have a spare $5000 nz, so a sweet lil 302 winsor an 65 3spd toploader with an impala shifter had to do. keep an eye on that front crossmember as the radiator overflow runs in to it an they tend to rust out pretty bad, easily fixed as if you catch it early you can redirect the overflow. i kept mine drum brake front, just did the same as you with a dual master cylinder and it stopped real well, great family car and i regret ever selling it, maybe i'll get lucky an find another one, yours looks great in the white with the hubcups; enjoy.

Today I took the 2v off and put on a 4 barrel. The bottom end is now back plus more top end. Not sure how long the the stock very worn bottom end will put up with my abuse though.

thanks. I just wish this kid would sleep!!! She is doing better but still won't sleep through the night!! Or go to bed before 11.

  29. Nice to see a solid colored Vicky. And no skirts or continental kit. An old classmate of mine still has his Dad's black 56 Vicky that he bought new. I repainted the headlite rings back in high school. Back in 67 another friend of mine had a 56 Crown painted 67 Mustang metallic green with Cragar SS mags. No skirts or connie kit. That car was to die for. Left an imprint in my heart. Gonna put one on my bucket list.
