Yesterday I bought a 52 Vicky junker for a few parts for some of my other projects...(low mile Flathead).... and after I loaded it I realized it has a nice rear bumper and it looks really similar to my 56's bumper...... Anyone know if 1956 and 52 bumpers interchange??

the front bumper is bad on it and looks different.

the window cranks and some of the interior stuff looks the same..

I pulled the bumper off the 52 and compared it to the 56 and it is close but too narrow so I am still on the lookout for better 56 bumpers.

Also I am really impressed how the Vicky goes in the snow!!!

I sold off what was left of the 52 Vicky. It gave up a few parts for the 56 and this weekend I picked up some nos trim for my car so when I eventually repaint it I can put nicer stuff back on it.

So far it has been holding up well this winter. I have avoided running it in too much salt but it has seen some snowy roads from time to time.

Well I sold off the 4 speed I rebuilt. My wife said she liked to drive the car and wants me to keep it auto.

I did find a decent rear bumper for the car. It isnt all smashed and twisted like the one on the car.

I also decided to spend some loot for a rechromed front bumper since my old one was pretty bad.

Picked up some nicer trim pieces so when I repaint it eventually it will have some nicer bits go back on.

The past week I got tired of the oil consumption and dropped an engine block off at the machine shop. So in a few weeks I will build up a new engine and drop her in.

Well tonight my heart sank.... Hadto adjust the valve lash on one valve twice after running it 100 miles or so.

I feared that it ate a lifter/cam lobe.

I pulled the rocker and oddly enough the ball at the top of the pushrod was eroded away!!!! No wear to the rocker just a pushrod ball that polished down half or so of its original height.

I am guessing it was a bad heat treat??

I ordered a new set so I can get it back on the road.

Anyone ever have this happen with edelbrock hardened pushrods?

Well 3 other pushrods eroded too. but at a much slower rate.... it is really odd and anoying......I am getting tired of changed the oil all the time to get rid of the metal particles.

I also broke a motor mount with the new power it HAS, had to change that out as well as a u-joint that was questionable when I put is all back together.

I have been having nothing but bad luck laity, my issues with this car.......PLUS I blew a headgasket in my 79 f-350 tow rig, fuel pump also went out on it and the coil all last week. Then I got rear-ended in my green truck. Then the fridge broke and had to fix it. plus a bunch of other small ****.

Hope that changes soon I am starting to get burned out on this old junk.

image.jpg It never ends. I will never buy moog u-joints again. I just had 3 in a row go bad today in less than 2 miles each!!!!!! I put an old used joint in and it works fine again. I can't believe the junk parts made these days. I hope I can get my money back for them at the parts store.

I finally found a new correct u-joint that was made long enough ago to be a quality piece so I pulled out the old worn used one. The car is now behaving itself and is a joy to drive again.... there for a bit I was ready to take a ball peen hammer to it!!!

It is so odd that I ended up with so many bad NEW parts all in a few weeks time!!!

It's quite frustrating to have to do so much research to find quality parts. One can no longer make ***umptions based on manufacturer as so many OEM suppliers have outsourced their service contracts offshore.

Oh, sweet 56! Love the look!
