hey guys, the previous owner of my ford removed the overdrive cable and the arm on the actualy overdrive unit. it dawns on me now that i should get that fixed asap as i cant down shift to slow down if i need to which could be a serious problem. ive figured out the cable end of things what i REALY need is a scrible or decent photo of the arm with the deminsions on it. i figure i can just make a new one out of flat stock or something but i need to know at least the length of the arm. ill try to find ap ic of what im talking about thanx tim
oh and on a sorta tangent, im asuming that this arm isnt like spring loaded or anything so when i pull my cable out it should just stay out, i dont need to have something holding it out or anything right? sorry for the possibly silly questions tim
It should stay out. Once in a while my pull out cable 'moves'. Maybe vibration, maybe my knee bumped it-- dunno. You may need to know-dont pull up against a curb when the cable is pushed in. You will not be able to back up until you jack up one wheel and rotate it and pull the cable out. When you decide to use overdrive you will learn all the relays and switches are expensive. You can use an on/off toggle switch instead
alright, any idea what it looks like were you "bolt" it to the unit? also is there any specific way i need it "set" as far as it goes this far back and this far foward? id asume id just get it to look like the one in the "back" position in my pic and just pull the cable forward until i can tell its not in overdrive anymore. --still kinda weird to me that you pull the cable to take it out of overdrive instead of pulling it out to get over drive
lol sweetness, have you got an over all length? im sure its on there im just not reading it right thanx tim
