    Hello all,

Does anyone have any information, i.e. old catalogs/books, on vintage Mallory Distributors and their applications?

I am clearing out my Dad's garage and found three vintage Mallory Distributors. One is a Model R, Type 13T, another is a Model R, Type 13BD, and the last is a Model Z, Type 173 A. They are not cast iron, so I didn't think they were that old.

I have been trying to identify them for months and haven't been able to find any information on any single letter models of Mallory distributors. I even called Mallory and was told their records dont go back that far.

I've attached a couple pics of the Type 13T.

    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andy

The distributor you pictured looks like '36-'48 Cadillac V8, and a 173 was for certain '30s/'40s Studebaker engines.

    Good stuff.

But what decodes the prefix (ZC, etc) and the suffix (A,B,C, etc). Can I presume that the middle numbers are the specific engine model numbers?
