I am thinking of some sort of "Nerf Bumper" on the back of my coupe, the tube type, ol timey. Any pics would be appreciated.
The nerf bar on the coupe is home made. The one on the roadster is from 600 Racing out of North Carolina, its for a Legends race car.
I went with something in between a bumper and a nerf, a piece of chromed 1-1/4' chrome molly tubing. Worked for me!
Sorry,.... no other pics Kenny Stewart made it for me,..... the bottom curled tubes reach under to the rear to the of Z'ed frame,The tube od is only 1/2 inch and extends about 9 inches to the frame. I can take some pics tomorrow and post.... just pm me to remind me.
I flipped around the Stock Model A spreader bar and cut off the outer bumper brackets for a sort of there but not seen look.
My 32's gasser style bumper. 2 5/8" OD x .120 wall DOM tubing. Turned aluminum end caps JB Welded on after the tube was powdered. Barely seen 3/16" double brackets each side bolt to 1" x 2" x .120 wall rect tubing with crush tubes for the bracket bolts and frame mount bolts. Also seen are 39 Ford taillights with cut down bucket to clear the swing of the rumble seat. Regular nerfs. A little different from most, but not too much.
I used 1" round rod, bent to the same curve as the body edge. I made brackets to attach it to the rear body mounts and to the lower rear body cross piece. Then had it chromed. Red
wow....so many ideas.........thanks for the pics.... keep em coming , trying to decide what would look best on this
Here is the nerf that came with my coupe. The previous owner said that it came with the car when he bought it and he was just passing it along. I'm guessing it's from the early to mid 60's. Vance
Hello..Here are mine..No cost, just some time..Yes, Henry made these. Original guard taken off bumper..Did the same in the front with single brackets. Duane.
Speedway sells a slick little kit to make your own and personalize it a bit if that's your thing. About $60 if memory serves. Frank
