trying to figure out how to wire a circuit so my car will only start in park. i'm using a b&m ratchet type shifter (turbo 350)that has a micro switch that has 2 terminals. it has a lever that fits into a slot when it is in park. but unsure how to wire it?
    thanks

you run your main starter wire that goes to your silonoid through that switch so it breaks that contact.

Micro switch wont handle the current necessary to energize a solenoid. Need to wire it to a relay that operates the solenoid.

  4. You just cut the purple "starter" wire[start term on sw to inside term on starter] and hook each end to that shifter switch.....

    Yup.
If it was me, I'd use the normally open neutral switch to supply ground (when it's closed w/ the shifter in the neutral/park position) to terminal 85 of a relay.
I'd run fused B+ 12v to terminal 30 of the relay n' the starter signal from the ignition switch to terminal 86. Output from the relay to the starter solenoid would be from terminal 87...
The advantage ta' all this would be straight B+12V to the starter solenoid wit' only minimal voltage drop...
But it's early here, n' I could completely jacked up all them Bosch relay terminal numbers.....

If the switch is a factory part of the shifter it will be fine and it will probably start in neutral also so you do not need to come to a complete stop to restart the engine. If it's not a factory switch, get a Ron Francis neutral safety switch that is held on by the pan bolts. It has remained unchanged for 30 years so it works well.
