Gentlemen, and I use that term loosely, my name is Skip and being from Ct, I use the signature of Ctskip, long story there. I'm a 60 yr old gear head who left Ct in 95. My first car cost $50 and had a blown motor, I was 13, I replaced the six and sold it for $175. I learned how to drive in a junk yard where we turned cars on their side and burned them after cutting the gas tanks out. It was a four dr Plymouth with all doors removed and the cutting torch tanks were in the back seat. The trunk was full of copper wire. It ran on the gas we took out of the tanks we cut out. I graduated to a 48 Ford with no motor, at 16, I bought a Mercury with a 430 interceptor for the motor Push button tranny. Before I finished it, I was in Vietnam. I came home from Nam and bought my first new car ever, I traded my DD 66 GTO conv for a 69 El Camino. I've always loved motorcycles. Bought my first 67 Triumph Bonnie TT at 22. I never did go for the usual run of the mill vehicle. I ran the gambit of TR3/4, MG's, I must of had twenty 55 to 57 Chevy's. I've mostly been a Chevy man all my life, I've had a 59 T-Bird conv. And did the friday nite hamburger thing at Jimmies at Savin Rock. Never owned a MoPar and only three Fords my whole life. I bought my very first brand new Harley in 95 and X'd the country. It took me almost two years to do. I've been to both Daytona and Sturgis many, many times. I settled in Tulsa, Ok and married a girl I found on line some 10 yrs ago and now live outside Dallas, Texas. I now drive a 89 Mercedes 560 SL (fast little sucker) it shifts out of 3rd at 100 mph, my wife has her Mercedes CLK conv. My latest project is with my father-in-law (FIL) that he found abandoned for some 50 yrs, in a peanut farmers field in central Texas. It a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr sedan V-12 flathead. Now I've never worked on a flattie and have never even seen a V-12. Lots of 265 V8's ok 409 V8, 427's Ok, but never a V-12 292cu in flat head with a two barrel carb. Now I'm working on a deal for a newer 1946 V-12 304 cu in. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it. Hopefully, I'll finger out where things are around here, but I fingured I'd give y'all a little bkgnd first.
