well, the 51 gasser isnt complete.....so no show on it....which is no big deal, BUT, noticing funny noises from my 327 in my 56 got me a wonderin, and tonight after tearing things down a bit i saw that one rocker has gotten so hot that it has turned blue at the bottom and gold everywhere else (crane magnums), 4 valve guides are bad, 3 lifters are soggy, and to top it off, the starter gear wont go all the way back in and the flywheel bangs against it. so i am guessing i wont be draggin it on the strip, but i think i might put in some new lifters for the time being and see about just limping out to the hotel friday night and then to the drags on saturday to show support. as long as nobody minds the smoke....think i might still be able to pull into the non spectator side even though i dont wanna drag it but still be a part of the days fun? the car might get lonely sitting over on the spectator side all by itself....haha
