New (1928) Baby on the way!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Feb 20, 2004.

  1. Well after waiting for over 30 years since my dad's '28 Tudor left the driveway and I cried for a yet unknow reason (I was only 4), I finally have one of my own coming tonight! This is just the body and the complete running chassis shows up next week. My friend bought a restored A and is only using the body, I'm taking the rest- fenders, hood, bumpers & all.
After I put the two big pieces together I'm adding an early dropped axle, '40 brakes, a set of Kelsey's and new 5.00 & 7.00 Firestones, an early dual manifold with 97's, a T-5 tranny and open drive rearend. Be on the road next month, Hopefully by the March Meet- derfinitely will have it at Del Mar. I'm so happy, see my smile [IMG]

  2. It laid on its side for many years so I had the little bit of rust fixed. The subrails are perfect.

Nice. Its always cool to get something after waiting for years. I have always wanted a 58 impala since I was young. Finally got it and I'm 40 now!

I am sure you have thought about it, but, since you have said it was stored on its side.
Before you do any body work, It is a suggestion you put the body on the frame and square it before beginning body work.
A friend built a Model A coupe for a local banker that was stored on its side.
Larry got the rust repaired, body blocked and painted.
Then did the same routine to the doors, but the doors sould not close due to body settling.
    Had to redo.
    Redo sucks.

Gee Jim, you are flush with A's, why not send one out to me??

I know just how I'd build it too. Root beer candy, big rake etc. etc.....
