Thats the beauty of it, none of the quani***ies are specifics and vary with each "builder"application.......just like each conversion has its own set of cir***stances that must be dealt with individually. It can't be any less useful than a formula that requires specific inputs that the average builder has no way to quantify:)

Not really...........I have said from the beginning that flowing coolant too slowly thru an engine will cause the coolant to absorb more heat. Its possible that you had a water pump that was not pumping efficiently due to internal clearance/wear. Its possible as well that you had air trapped internally in the engine and increasing the flow managed to clear it. Its possible that you had the wrong pulley on the engine originally. There is a certain amount of flow thats needed to move the heat along. When you changed the pump to a smaller pulley, you also increased the speed of the cooling fan if its a mechanical one. So more airflow thru the radiator at low speeds. We have all had experiences like that.

There are lots of variables in our individual set -ups, and you indicate that you are not really sure if the water pump pulley was the saving grace in your case or whether it was a combination of the changed components. Thats one of the points I have been making..........that we don't always know just what happens when we change components, we just know the problem got better or it didn't. We aren't conducting controlled lab experiments. Experience has shown many times that we change something and when we are done..........the problem goes away but the solution doesn't make sense. A bulb works in one socket but won't work in another but both sockets are good. Ask yourself this.........When your engine came from the OEM, did it (and many others) not function perfectly well with a stock water pump. What changed that the engine could no longer maintain its cool using stock components? In the end all of us have had problems that we have worked thru and finally got them to work, but we can't always say that because the problem went away, we know exactly why. Thats life.:)

I hope @AGELE55 is able to find some useful help in this thread.

Can we be done with the theory and provide actual action steps for OP?

First: you need to knock off all the personal insinuations and act like an adult. They accomplish nothing and they certainly aren't comments that you would make face to face. I have tried to be objective, you might want to try it.

Second: You stated that the longer two things are in contact that heat would continue to flow from the hot one to the cooler one (exchange rate diminishes as items normalize)
Third : Now to quote your own words which you went to the trouble of making them bold type to stress their importance.

Logically, by your own statements, the longer two items stay in contact the more heat that will be transferred, so when two things are in contact for a lesser time, less heat will be transferred.
If the coolant is in contact with the radiator for less time and transfers less heat to the air .......it will then retain more heat for its return to the engine and the Delta T will be less and therefore less efficient in transfering heat. :)

Now a lot of people are tired and don't really care about all this ballyhoo......let's give it a rest.

all the fighting and chest pounding about who is right isn't doing anyone any good. It certainly is not helping the OP cool his car better. A few people are acting like children so the thread gets closed.....
