I noticed that too! I was kind of suprised he didn't do any of the pinstriping. I know i saw some older guy doing a pinstripe around the wheels of the 65 mustang. Foose has an awsome creative talent. BTW. Courtney Hansen was better. I got my pic taken of her at a world of wheels show in St. Louis a few years ago. They were all cheesey though.

Courtney was the HOT one.. Now for the episode the guys brother if i remember right is a cancer survivor that contacted em to tell em how his brother helped him and stuff and had this mustang and then they contacted the guy and told em the wanted to Overhaul his car.. I liked it that way. And I agree Chip not only is an artist he is very creative with his hands too and although ive only spoke to him wile getting his autograph he is a very nice polite guy....

Chip has all sorts of talent. I just wish he would quit ripping out nice interiors and installing ugly ass seats. Nice drivetrains to install new crate engines. I realize that is what the general public wants though.

I had no idea it was still on even. I will say that there are very few things that a female doesn't make better by her presence.

I think I remember Foose doing a car from Texas. Seems they looked at 5 or 6 cars from all over the country that people had sent in wanting to be "Foosed." Thought the car was from Texas.

I think it would be kind of cool to make the owner do some of the grunt work. Or help lay out the color and graphics. Something to give it some ownership without screwing with the real work.

I agree the pranks were lame on a good day. To me the show is all potatos and no meat. The show does not show you how to do anything , there is zero info on the car or the work done. I would rather watch an hour of someone welding on a rear panel and giving advice on what to and not to do then see a car stripped down and rebuilt with new everything. But thats just me.
I kinda like chip from what i see on TV , he does not seem to act like a "god "and take himself to serious , but who know off camera, he projects himself well. I have seen the show and i used to laugh what shade of light blue he was going to paint the car in the early days of it. I would like so see some of these cars 5 years down the road to see if these people really appreciate what they got. Having a dumb hot chick on a show is always good for eye candy and Chips har is almost as great as Don Kings!
The show monster garage while goofey in concept the builders would slip in a tip or two so there was a small amount of info_Overhaulin is more or less the same each week , you know how it starts and how it ends. I would rather watching more interesting not to mention most times i don't like chips choice of paint color. That is in no way knocking him , paint is a personal prefrence.

I was at a meet & greet breakfast with Chip & Sam Foose at last years Good Guys in Columbus. Chip spoke about the new show format. Yes Courtney's husband was the producer and she left when he did. Chip was not happy with the old format, said producers wanted more drama like Coddington's show. I think they went with a new production company. The way he explained it cars will come from all over the country. There shipped back to his shop and the owner is flown it for the reveal. I have to say after listening to him and his dad for over an hour at Columbus he's a class act. ;)

Missed the episode last night. Glad it is back! Look forward to the new episodes. Also, its about time they started doing cars outside of SoCal. That means Jersey boys like me might just luck out. :D

  22. I gotta say of all the shows, Overhaulin really seems genuine while being entertaining, in part to Chip. The bottom line is he's a good guy with a lot of talent and tops it off with humility. That's an awesome recipe, he gets my respect.

when i was in L.A. they had a Foose display area in the Peterson. in it was the grill from a Rolls Royce that was smashed to bits. story goes something like this: Chip was about 12 and had been learning to drive in his dad's 56 Ford pickup (the one Chip owns now and that they "stole" and redid for him on the show). seems young Chip, some how or another, crashed it into a Porsche his dad had been working on and pushed it into a Rolls that his dad had just finished. that grill is the grill from that Rolls and Chip has had it hanging on the wall of every shop he has ever worked in. he keeps it as a reminder to himself to always be humble. it gave me chills reading the story and brings them back recounting it now.
from everything i have seen and EVER heard, the man has character to spare. it's not an act.

i do "get" why these producers try to inject all this "drama" and leave out alot of the "meat" (as someone put it). i don't care for it but i understand why they do it. it's a business. they are in it to make money. if nobody watches they don't make any money and drama sells. if it was simply a technical "how to" show i garuantee they would not have 1/10 the viewers (you could probably say they would'nt have 1/1000th the viewers and be safe in that assumption). they are trying to appeal to a MUCH broader audience than just those of us who like to actually build cars.
BRAVO to Chip for wanting to stay away from the drama. i have ZERO respect for those other guys with similar shows that actually encourage the drama.

I'm glad others are pondering Chip's hair. I'll be he gets hat head something terrible! I caught the last two thirds of the show by accident. Truthfully, I didn't know that the show had been improved - but - I did notice that the girl was missing. The pranks got repetitive - but I thought the idea of messing with a person about their car was catchy. I was always surprised that someone didn't get violent.

How about an all girl crew doing Chip's bidding? I know there are lots of talented women in the car world.

Maybe they could do one segment as a real how-to technical piece. Even if it's just ten minutes, it would get me to watch it every week. They do a lot of REAL work on those cars, it seems kind of a waste to spend 1/2 of the duration of the show on gimmicky crap.

I'm sure we could all learn something from Chip Foose. And I'd like to learn practical tips that I can immediately translate into better work on my own project. Just a thought, I'm sure the bean counters won't go for it.

    Skinny chicks? Yes!

    Fake drama? No!

If you pay close attention sometimes you see a shit-load of people working on the car in the back ground. On top of that it's edited out of sequence to create more drama.

Anyway... Foose is a cool cat, but I was never a big fan of that show. I was a bigger fan of "Rides". I wish they would bring that show back...

Either way, Top Gear gets all my attention now. It's the best car show ever in my mind and slots just above Rides :)
