Hey Fellow Hambsters, My name's Shannon from Brisbane,Australia and i have been looking at the site for a while as have been planning on building a Hambster for the Nostalgia drags here with my father-in-law John. We have spent the last few months collecting and sourcing bits and are now keen to make it happen. Attended the Nostaligia Nationals here last weekend and received invalauble info from the guys racing. Big thanks to the guys from Black Knight Racing, the Hamb Stirrers and Nigel (sorry can't remember your nickname) and Rod Hadfield. It's full steam ahead now (depending on the Finance Minister!!) to have ready for next years Nationals. Here's a sneak preview of our rocket. Cheers, Living Hamb
Welcome aboard dude.we had a blast all day, unfortunatly the hambsters only got to race each other once.the obfb ha/gr team are still running and ready to go again next time.i can't wait to line up and have a race with you.
Hi guys, have dropped off the radar a bit because the "finance minister" and i have split so all that takes up a bit of time LOL. Anyway, finished licking my financial wounds and now starting to get serious about the hamby again. On the hunt again for bits and picked up some good stuff in the last couple of weeks. Pushing hard now to have ready for August Nationals at the Bank. Hope to see a few of you next weekend. Cheers
Hi Guys, Just thought i'd drop you all a line to let you know we are still around. However, not a lot of progress since i spoke to everyone at the Nationals in August. Both Poppa John (the father-out-law) and myself have had some tough times over the last few months with close family members succombing to the Big "C" so the project has been on the backburner. However, 2010 is another year and we're back. Monday night saw the shed get a cleanout and re-arrange so we can get back into it. Poppa made some progress over the last few weeks and i will update with photos soon. And i've picked up some goodies thanks to ebay and from a generous mate. Unfortunately, we'll again miss our local round at Willowbank but look forward to catching up with everyone there. Cheers and see you at the Blacktop Shannon
With out good backing it is very hard to do anything let aloan something that costs money. This might give you some inspiration, nearly finished No2 Hambster. Take a look at my album. You know some times we all need help so if us lot down here in Kempsey (The Four Aces Drag Racing Club) can do anything to help dont be afraid to ask. Dale one of our club members has just started his HA/GR machine. Never give up the frog said.
Thanks Hambstirrer. One of the reasons i can't wait to get my toy up and running is because a great bunch of blokes are involved and you have all been SUPER helpful to us "newbies". Hopefully everything going well we should be able to race at Kempsey aswell soon hey? Keep up the fight Kev. p.s. the new rocket is really something
Well, looking at this thread i started, it has been over a year since my last post but i'm sitting here the day after the debut of our creation and can proudly report that it's still intact. Had a mega push over the last 3 months to get it finished, got it teched just 10 days ago, had it stripped over the next 2 days. Painted and sanded 2 days later and back together Friday at 1pm to put it on the trailer for our maiden pass at the Test N Tune that night before our debut Saturday. Total of 8 passes over the 2 days with a best 16.46/82.16mph all be it with a very smoky slanty. Haven't even checked the timing yet, just turned it until it started and ran. Before next meet rings, bearings and rod bolts and i'll shout it a tune up.
Did i mention that today i picked up some chassis rails, beam front end and a diff.....car number 2 here we come!!!!!
