Maybe im wrong, but I thought I had seen oil filters that didn't interfere with the pump and others that use the pump mount....either way its easier to not use it than it is to need it and not have it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
also another thing I was thinking about.... Has anyone thought of moving the water outlet on the drivers side to the rear of the block to help with those 2 cylinders running hotter?
Well, today I machined the bottom of the block and checked the machined surface to various features on the model as well as a B and A block. No disappointments. It looks very nice. At the same time, I finished rough machining of the deck side of the waterjacket core plug for the dual plug aluminum head. John gave me some data to work with and I started messing around with the 5 main internals. I also started gathering info to make pinned caps for the A and B versions. I discussed the AR and some other items with Kevin Prus Jr., also. Anyone have a problem with strengthening ribs on the inside, as long as they clear everything? Seems to me every little bit helps. Tod
Improvements are good. If they don't get in the way,I say add all you want. It is easier to remove metal then it is to add it. .
Havent seen many updates for a while but have been talking with a engine rebuilder here who offers a warrenty on his work. They use new cranks rods pistons and valve gear rods are usually fitted to the crank and pistons so thats a saving on reconditioning old or damaged parts and they are useing 'known' components Hence a warrenty. They like the idea of a new block as they are currently rejecting 3 out of 4 blocks due to unknown repairs cracks or inserts of unkown quality they have to do this to offer a warrenty blocks of known quality would make it better for every one and it would be better to obtain a rebuilt motor with a full warrenty fair enough? They currently work on 3 or 4 A or B blocks at a time so they are very interested to see whats on offer.
RussTee, I replied to your email. I've been pretty busy on other projects but plan to get back to the foundry to cast more samples with actual foundry gating this time. Hopefully, one or two blocks can be cast in time for display at Hershey. Tod
He has been busy with other business and hasn't had much time for this project. But he should have another block ready for Hershey. .
Anyone who wants update info can email me at blockheads2014 at yahoo.com, any time. That email account is dedicated to the blocks and various head projects. I just cast 2 more samples, one of which the foundry wants to keep and cut up and the other I will machine up and see if it will build and run. Also, Snyder took the very first one to Hershey. It is back in my shop. Tod
Hi Tod.Outstanding project.Beautiful castings.Wishing you all the best. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
