the valve setting method used, has been in printed form for the chevy V8 since 1954 /55 for the 265v8 introduction. I just try to be of some help here and there. thats 57 years ago ... think about that and your welcome i'm here to learn and help, not to bolster my self as an I'm better than thou car guy. some here do. and thanks for the nice pm note to me from a fellow HAMB er pointing that out. I did not INVENT IT... i'm not better or faster than anybody the mods should now close this thread as it has run its course, problem solved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does / do the GM engineers deserve the credit? who knows so go ahead and have the last word if ya need it to fulfill you need to feel Superior
Or valve(s). X3 fouled plugs are junk and cannot be cleaned, only replaced. Someone correct me and maybe the original poster if I'm wrong but "hotter plugs" has nothing to do with the spark.
damn noob, ease up, he had an engine with issues and it was resolved here, he is rolling again. If you dont like the thread ***le, dont fkn read it. fkn amazes me the people that will jump in a thread just to ***** and whine, not contribute a damn thing but sand in their puss. Your to fkn new to act like you are.
Don't let them get to you, you enjoy that 41 Ford sir. Heres what I do, on the upper left under the big red HAMB, click the tab: manage your account. then click option: Edit Ignore List. Now type in the names, and click OK. It's that simple and you don't have to worry about getting caught up in the drama. In fact I added 2 this evening. All the best here on the forum, TR
click that iggie, can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen bye bye wanabes see there it works now they can't be better than you... now that i'm the top dog again and there's nobody to question my authority lets get back on subject See how self centered that sounds? its a sad world we live in that we must hold our selves to trying to make people believe that there the only ones that KNOW any thing. and in closing (like the shark tank ) for that reason i'm out. click ah i'm so master full disclamer: the above is not of my making it is the expressed views of some pm/im's of others expressing what they would like to say but were afraid to say it...
PAJET,glad you got it figured out. I also liked reading the posts from fellower Hambers who tried to ***ist you. Lots of us are not full time mechanics and learn from challenges like you faced here. I did the same thing on my big block after installing my new cam and other mods on my 2lane,g***er style 55 chevy. My problem was noisy roller rockers I picked up at a swap meet at a ridiculous price. I should have known they were too good to be true. Kept tightening them down to try and get rid of the lifter clacking sound. Had another set of roller tip rockers and redid the drill and valve train is quite as a church mouse. What I didn't like was the shallow minded "traditionalist" who get their *****'s in a wad over the year of the engine etc. This info presented in this article could apply many a year engine and is good for all. And your guess on the whipped out cam was bogus in the end anyway. OK my 2 cents worth and congrats on your fix and all the guys who helped. I love a happy ending.yruhot......doug
I'm glad there are still those with common sense and saavy who can answer an engine question without asking for a build date.
thanks again to all who helped me sort this problem out. sorry to those offended. the info that i gained can be applied to all motors and therefor help a lot of people. this is my first build and i am a newbie to hamb however it has helped me tremendously as far as info and buying parts. hope to have 41 on the road this spring. 2 years later. thanks again, tom
coil sounds like it is going bad. if you have another laying around, swap it. had the same problem with a small block, 300.00 for a new holly, same problem. replaced a "new" accel coil with a stock coil, worked perect.
