I'm not from the area but you may want to check out Austin Speed Shop, seems like they always got something cool in the works...

I think there are a lot of rodders in Huston.

  4. I'm in Texas City, right on the Gulf Coast, drop by if you come down.
If you are around on the first Sunday of the month, just about every month but Lone Star Roundup(which would be a great time to visit Austin, TX, 3 hours from Houston), a bunch of H.A.M.B. members meet at the Shady Tavern in the Houston Heights area.
Here's one we did a few years ago:

Dave, just a suggestion. You might want to note "Texas traveling" in your ***le. I don't know about all but any more I just scan the ***les to see if anything interests me.

Folks from Texas are more likely to catch this if Texas is in the ***le.

    Good luck with the trip.

  6. the houston roadster club has a breakfast once a month and would know all the happenings in the area. send me an email and I'll get you in touch with the head of the club.

go to your top post....select "edit" in the bottom right corner, then click "go advanced" and you will be able to edit your ***le, then "save". If you put Texas in the ***le you'll round up a whole herd of helpful wranglers

If you get up to north Texas look me up. I'll leave a Shiner out of the cooler to warm up and make you feel at home. :)

Dave, the rod run/show in Boerne should be 1st or 2nd weekend in October. I have not looked up the dates but it is a good turn out with about 500 cars. Plan on that, Boerne is a suburb of San Antonio, with a visit over to Fredericksburg to see the heart of the Texas hill country. If I can be of any help, let me know, I live on the NW side of San Antonio. Welcome, mate.

The Kontinentals Day of the Drags at Temple Academy Dragway is in October again this year I think. That is a couple of hundred miles from the coast but the country around there is nice and that event is terrific. Also, the roads are good so it isn't a h***le to drive there. Good luck driving on the right side of the road. I can't drive on the left side, my brain locks or something and I know that I'll forget to stay left and make a big mistake.

And Boerne is pronounced "burn-e", Mexia is "mehayah", Burnet is "burn-it", Llano is "lano", Waco is "way-co"and Buda is with a long u - that way, when you talk, folks will think you are from around here. :) Hope you have fun over here.

If you are coming this far, you'd be crazy to miss the Kontinental's Day of the Drags. Not sure on the dates yet, but dosen't sound like you are either. Check back when the time gets closer. http://dayofthedrags.com/

Also, the Barons Hill Country 100 is usually in October. It's a really fun, smaller show. http://www.caferacerproduction.com/index.html

If you're going to rent a car, let the wife take it for a day or two. That will free you up to visit all of the Hot Rod shops in the area. I've got a car you can use to get around. I work for Danny at Bruce's so that would be a "must see" stop on your list. I could also put a few people up at the house if it helps. Got your choice of 3 unused bedrooms. Let me know.

    Hi Dave,
I'm in the Houston area, originally from London, member of Mid Surrey Roadsters. Be happy to show you around some good places to eat that won't try to rob you. Also if you can get out to the Heights meet first sunday of the month its a pretty good turn out there.
