Figured its about time to join up, so here I am. Been a member on the J.J. for a couple years now, hoping to also have the same good experience with the HAMB. Been into cars and bikes all my short life, but I tend to lean alot more toward bikes. In h.s. I had a stock 71 Challenger. About ten years ago I got my first monster. I bought a 71 Nova and built it up a to wild 383 street/strip car. Sold it off to my brother so I could buy a 1951 Austin A-40 Devon 4 door that used to be a late 60's-70's gasser in the midwest circuit know as "The Pusher II". About the same time I got my first Harley and it was a role reversal. The bike was instant speed and ALOT cheaper to run, upgrade, blowup and rebuild etc. So that was the course I ran for a few years. Moved back to Chicago (was in the Air Force), went to school to get my welding degree and started wrenching at an old Harley bike shop rebuilding vintage bikes and drag motors while in college. I got involved in Nostalgia Fuel racing co-built a rail car and help crew it, which I still do. Constantly being at the track brought back the desire to build the gasser. I was lucky enough to end up at an adult beverage night at HRCC and talked with Kevin. Later the talk turned into me working with him part time. Which in turn led to me scratching (for now) the ga$$er build and start a Model A pickup. I collected some part$, a five window coupe body, a T-5 trans, 9", frame rails, frontend, dash, yada-yada, and the main attraction a 346 Caddy flathead. Work had caused me to seperate with HRCC, and my projects. I was lucky enough to find a trades program where I became AWS certified in structural and pipe welding. Which is what I do know and love it. I have some cash saved and I just finished up the wifes 650 Bonneville the day after the pile up. So now it is time to start back up on the Model A. Hopefully I will be able to come here and pick some brains. Plan is to work on the bodys floor so I can start the frame around Thanksgiving. Currently I have An 81 Shovelhead (till the day I die), Supercharged 68 650 Triumph salt flat project, the wifes 71 650 Bonny, The Austin aka "rusty thing" and the "Pipe Dream" my Model A project. Till next time...............
