are the new bodies (i.e. brookville) bodies assembled with rivets or are they welded together? thanks rer_239
Henry may have used rivets for a reason but frames weren't boxed back then either! Theres nothing wrong with a welded body.
Spot welded with resistance welding I don’t remember rivets on floor pieces/braces But most of the ones I worked on were disassembled
When we assembled the first 32 roadster bodies at my shop we bolted the cowl top to the cowl sides and bolted the upper and lower deck lid panels to the 1/4s. spot welded the floor pan to the sub rails, spot welded the wheel well area to the sub rails, welded the trunk braces and other braces to the body and sub rails. welded the cowl top to the sides in the front channel where it was factory welded. Put a lot of small welds in hidden areas to strengthen the body. We also did 1/4 panel braces with turn buckles and an X frame behind the seat to make the body more rigid. Since I've started buying factory assembled bodies I've noticed more welds and the floor pan is riveted to the sub rails like the factory. I've only had an A roadster pu body 15 yeara ago and can't remember how it was assembled?
