Guys i been messing around wih fuel injection systems for quite a few years since 2001, the latest project was a 65 impala with an lt1 and 4l60e install we modified the stock harness and flashed the ecm to remove VATS ..i have done tpi and tbi's not sure many folks are going fuel injection .. does anyone think this is a good weekend business,, any thoughts how i can get business going i need to pay for my builds' i would like to someday convert the old rochester 2bbl to hide injectors
Probably folks on a traditional hot rod message board like the HAMB are not really your customer base. Go on some other car message boards, that could be a way to advertise your services. I would think it would be a good side business, plenty of street rod and modified muscle car owners think EFI is the ONLY way to go, they question why anybody in this day and age would ever use a carburetor(s). They should be your customer base. Marty McFly
Or not. I would suggest making a clone of the old Bendix Electrojet system used on late '50's Mopars. The big expense would be manifolds.
Make a bolt-on flathead EFI with a decent looking throttle body and I think you'll have plenty of business. Not everyone gets a thrill out of leaky 94's and 97's and shitty gas mileage.
The guys that really need EFI help are the guys running turbocharged engines that are less than common. Maybe you could look in on the Inliners International web site. Check it out, maybe join. Do a write up on an EFI you built for a Chevy 6 or something like that. Send it in to Wanda and she will run it with pictures and all in the news letter and maybe you will get some business I did it with a mechanical injection deal and got some return. EFI should get a better response.
