im starting a new club here in DALLAS. wana call it the "no ones"...... any tips, suggestions or is that name taken? any body wana join in? just good fun people.... no politics and crap...
yea - no leaders / no boards / no rules and don't call it a club in the first place because then some one will want to do the first three things in my sentence. Just put the word of mouth out that if anyone wants to get together and shoot the shit about cars or women or both to meet me at the burger joint friday night. That about covers it. Cob
there are clubs that dont have those first three things... sometimes a club is just about friends you'd do ANYTHING for, at any time of day, because you KNOW they'd do the same for you. . . the jacket and plaque are just incidental

Friends don't need to join clubs to be friends. And yea - friends will help with anything any time. Clubs are a reason to gather to enjoy cars. Friends will gather for no reason at all. But - I do understand what you are trying to say FiddyFour. Cob

I know a lot of guys aren't into the club thing, but I'm the President of the Kreatures CC in Austin. Hanging out together in our jackets has allowed us to meet some great guys that we wouldn't have met otherwise. Car guys come out of the wood work when they see club guys hanging out at a bar or music show. Quite a few of our members are guys that we would never have known existed if they hadn't approached us and started talking about cars with us. If we'd just been wearing a t-shirt and jeans, they would never have known we're into cars unless they saw us get into our rides later. If you don't like clubs, don't join one, but don't talk shit about guys that belong to clubs. Clubs are as much a part of hot rodding history as a hopped up model A.
Hey man, you better stay off our turf....or we'll have to rumble. With a name like the "no ones" they're not going to let you into any strip clubs around town....maybe you should change the name to the "no bodys"....and just drive around on hot rodded chassis'. Or the knowbodys.....those guys are knowhere.....

Agreed - nobody is talking shit. Some clubs are great and easy to belong to and enjoy and others are rule driven short of a dictatorship and clique shit. It's all what you want to make with it - be in - whatever. Been in a few in my life. Squints wanted advise and he didn't want politics and crap so that is why I suggested the 3 things in my first sentence which would help not to have politics and crap.
