Oh yes, the MERC trim ... I always wondered why that Buick came with a Merc trim. Guess I'll just remove and sell it to merc'er in need
Wow Martin! Great paintjob. I like the color, my 50 Merc use to have almost the same color What do you think of fenderskirts? I think these would fit perfectly for your car, just an idea.
More pics? No problem, here you go. Fenderskirts, yes. I'm thinking of getting the Ford bubbleskirts and get them somehow fitted to the sweep spear rear corner. Just like the ones on The Purple Haze http://www.cruisinmag.com/gallery/k028_01.jpg The wheels...I got a set of '51 Kaiser hubcaps which I thought might look cool. Still have to pick them up at the shipper. I will post another set of pics from different angles. When I took those we werent finished yet with cleaning up the body.
looks scweeet as hell. Is the top a dark blue or black cause one of the pics looks blue, either way it was nicely done
The top is blue, same blue as the original blue from the dashboard. It has a very slight tendency into green when the sunlight directly hits it. Over here we call it dolphin blue. 2 more pics taken yesterday:
I saw the dual exhaust and I'm wondering how you split it from the straight 8? Or are you running a different engine? Did your paint come out pretty clean shooting outside? It looks great in the pics!
I still run the S8. We splitted the pipe behind the exhaust manifold just by welding an elbow flange and then lead the exhaust thru the frame to keep clearance. Works out fine and there should be a picture of that on my website, not sure where tho. The piantjob done outside came out really clean, no flies on the semi gloss body color (seems they disliked the color's smell or something). Some flies on the roof, which is clearcoated twice. But with a little polishing there will be no dead bodies left and the surface will be shiny and clean like a babies butt.
Awesome car! What did you do to lower it? Mine sits high in the back but somewhat low in the front...
I got a set of 4 new coilsprings from the guys at http://www.coilsprings.com/ I phoned them and said I need springs for the 53 Buick Special Riviera, 2.5" lower in front and 4" lower in the rear. They looked up car weight and weight distribution and original spring sizes, and then I got new coilsprings ready to replace the stock ones. Took about 6 weeks incl. shipping to Germany. The new ones are progressive too, which greatly increased ride stability.
To fulfill the request, an interior photo. The darker blue on the dash is the same color we used for the top.
Cool, had not heard of these guys. Just called up them up, real nice. I ordered a set of 4" drop front coils for my 51 shoebox. I liked that they were not "off the shelf" They asked how much of a drop I wanted. Should be here in 4 weeks, just in time for front end assembly.
