Some recent "life changes" & a few months in a convertible left me wanting something small & topless not long ago.... (I also decided I wanted a roadster ). I tried to trade my Deuce Fordor body for a Brookville '32 Roadster & had some interest but never quite got the deal done. The weekend before Thanksgiving I was stomping around with Kennedy & his Dad & we came across a Brookville '32 RPU cab. Before I knew what was happening I had traded my Fordor body for the new Brookville RPU, a new Brookville bed, two hand made bomber seats, & a windshield frame with upper & lower stanchions. Yeah, I traded good original steel for Brookville stuff but I'm thrilled with my new RPU project. I appreciate original steel but I'm not hung up on it. This RPU will suit my new needs... & I think the "PU" part of it suits me better than a Deuce Roadster or Fordor would have. Thanks to Vaphead, JimA, Coker, Wheelkid, & a few other Alliance vendors I literally have all but probably $1500 in little stuff I need to build it. I can't wait to get started.... JH
Congratulations Jim, a RPU is a overall great rod for everyday driving and rod runs. I can't wait to see the build!!
I couldn't stand the tease. I can see it in my head anyway. I really appreciate all your help with parts. There's going to be A LOT of Riley Automotive in this one. JH
Glad to see you got what you wanted,,,on the other hand i'm sorry we won't get to see your ideas brought to life with the mor-dor,,,HRP
I think everyone should have something topless at least once in their life and you choice is high on the list. Very cool, what's the run down for your plans?
Very cool! Please keep us updated on the build. I would like to make a road trip this Spring and check you out.
Well you went and did it! Saw the pile last weekend at David's. Once a roadster guy, always a roadster guy.
Cool thing about this deal was that the only parts that won't also work on the RPU were the fuel tank & A/C unit. Both of those parts went to HAMBers. HotrodA got the A/C. The Fordor was going to be a neat car. Maybe we'll Photoshop a pic when the RPU is done & see what it would have looked like. The only change of plan has really involved the body. The rest is all the same... even the color. It'll have no fenders, a full hood, & will be riding on a Kennedy's Hot Rod Shop chassis. 283, T-5, Currie/SoCal 9" rear. Split wishbones up front with SoCal ladder bars in the back. Drum brakes. Bias ply 16" & 18" "Stones on '40 Ford/Wheelkid steelies. A Knecht instrument panel, Limeworks '40 wheel & column, the bomber seats, & a Grabowski shift knob should make for a decent looking cockpit. I can't wait. JH
gREAT PROJECT!! I think I too am happier building that driving by a long shot. I can relate! Good starting material there.
Nice trade. Still steel, still a deuce. Can't wait to seed it on the road. ____________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid, "Your music's not too loud, it just sucks and so does OKC!"
Yeah, I had a couple of topless. One was a '29 on '32 rails. The other had monster no sag tits. Right succulent .
