Hey Guys, I've been lurking on here for awhile now just reading, learning, and enjoying the site. I decided it was about time to introduce myself and one of my cars to the HAMB world. I have a 1939 Plymouth Business Coupe, P8 that i got back in July of this year. The car is in damn good shape for being 75 yrs old and was at one point (i think in the early 90's) fixed up and painted. So i bought it off a guy who was going to build a street rod out of it. Well instead of building the car he ended up buying a '38 Chevy Coupe that was already street rodded. He took the Plymouth and parked it out back behind his shop. Then i came across it for sale on Craigslist up in NY about 2 hrs from me, and the rest is history as they say. I'll post up some pictures of the car after work. Thanks for reading, -Chris
Welcome from Woburn! That is a fine looking car for sure. Is that an original paint scheme? Either way, it's NICE!
Welcome from Chelmsford! Your car looks super solid, and looks really nice the way it is, body paint and all. If you don't mind me asking, what do you plan to do for it? I really don't have much expertise or experience here, but if you ever need a second opinion, seen me a message, I would love to help out somehow!
I don't believe that's the original paint scheme. I'm not sure what the original color was, it'd be neat to find out though. Thanks for the compliments. She's pretty damn solid for being 75 years old. The frame is nice and straight and virtually no rust. The only rot the car has is on the running boards and on the fender lip where the running boards attach.
Thank you. The plan for the car was to get it road worthy and then slowly fix some stuff. I did get it on the road and drove it quite a bit. It's definitely a blast to drive. I haven't driven it in the last few wks because of excessive blow by. I'm getting a lot of oil smoke coming out of the oil breather and liquid oil is now coming out of there too. So the plan has shifted to pulling the motor this winter and freshening it up. I really just want this thing to be a solid around town cruiser for now. I'm not a big fan of the two tone black and gray. So I'd like to get it painted a nice satin black. Some day down the road I'd like to pull the body of the frame and go through the car. Then style it like a 40s custom. That wouldn't be for awhile though until I finish my other project. I mainly bought this so I'd have something to cruise in while I finish my other project and I always wanted a coupe. I appreciate the opinions, thanks for looking in.
