Hey everyone, new guy here for Eastern Oregon. I'm 26 and grew up in my grandfather's shop watching him restore numerous Model Ts, Model As, Mustangs and Ford and John Deere tractors. Over the years with more than a few close calls with his health, he sold off all of his restored beauties and was left with no more toys. I'm glad to say today he is in good health and the car bug is back stronger than ever. We have just recently completed a 1931 Model A Widebed Pickup (his knowledge and my hands). Its no show car by any means but we have both had a blast working on it together and driving it, which we do on almost a daily basis. Our goal was never to end up with a show rig that we were afraid to drive or throw the dogs in the back of and go for a cruise so at this point we are finished with the pickup and happy as can be with it. With fall and winter coming up before too long we decided we would need another project to work on, so today we just picked up a 1929 Model A Sport Coupe. I can't wait to get into this car and get it back on the road. One of the last cars my Grandpa sold was his 1928 Sport Coupe and he has always regretted getting rid of that car so I am itching to get this thing running and get him behind the wheel of a Sport Coupe once again! I am also going to be starting a build of a Model A engine that I will eventually drop into my own A one day (recent college graduate so it could be a slow process haha). Grandpa likes to keep everything factory original but I am dying to build a traditional style hot rod utilizing the factory Banger. During my build and while we work on the restoration of the '29 I look forward to all of the information and guidance available here. I have never dove into an engine before but between my Grandpa and you all on here it will be a big help! I've included a shot of each of the rigs, let me know what you guys think! Thanks a lot!
Welcome great car good you are learning from a master soak up every thing possiable from old time masters Colin
Welcome from Portland. Great looking truck! And the new project looks like a ton of fun. Have fun and if you're ever in Portland, hit me up.
Welcome from Baker City! Cool project. Do you guys know the Lindscott family here? I think they MAY still have some of Clyde's "A" collection... they usta have A LOT of parts... hit me if you'd like me to check...
Welcome to the new guys from not too far west. Nice run-down on the cars. Enjoy the cruise and searching thru the forum.
Thanks everyone! I have been out to the Lindscott's place a couple times in the last few weeks, they do have a bunch of A stuff, I could easily spend a day just walking around and scouring parts haha. I will be at the Baker car show this weekend, hopefully see ya around!
