I guess I fit the description of old fart with a past. I was born in 1950 and grew up around cars. My grandfather, the original Orrie G, was always tinkering with old Chevys, I would go to towing yard auctions with him as he picked up cars from the 30's, 40's and sometime "newer" 50's models. Some had big problems, blown engines, but most just needed a good tune, radiator repair, or brake or suspension problem fixed. Some had electrical troubles. Anyway that is where I learned by basic mechanical and diagnostic stuff. He died in 1962 when I was 12 and just getting ready to get my own car to start fixing up. The rest of what I know I learned from my Dad, a Jeep and Chevy truck man, and trial and error or my and my friends cars. High school was a series of Chevys and one Ford 47 pickup. Raced in the late 60's and early 70's in door slammer cl***es and crewed on a B/Altered. Got drafted, went to college and did the kids/business/family thing, I own my own business. Over the years I have always driven older cars for my daily drivers, current one is a 64 Chevelle. Some as old as a 41 Chevy (original survivor), newest a 66 Caprice. Current project is a 59 Chevy Fleetside 4WD that is a halfway finished frame off project. The reason I signed up is I have been lurking for a while and appreciate all types of gearheads. I occasionally see threads where I might offer something of value. I am also looking forward to my next project, I've always wanted a rod and might be ready to build one, not a $100,000 deal with all the current bells and whistles but a good solid traditional roadster or pickup. A few of you might know me from the chevelles.com board or 67-72 truck site. I look forward to participating. Patrick AKA OrrieG
