Hi all. I'm hot ford coupe and I've had a running love affair with cars and hot rods since I was 5 and that was in 1955. I'm not what you call a true gearhead because I've never worked on full size cars but I'm a large scale model builder of traditional hot rods and customs and that was since I was 7. To clarify, I don't build box stock, I don't build new fangled hot rods dripping with billet and I don't build trailer queens. You could say I've been billet proofed. I highly superdetail and scratchbuild most of my stuff. I make the models look like they've been driven and some pretty hard. I'm here to really learn the insides and outsides of true hot rodding so I can transfer that knowledge over to the models I build. I don't work on the real things because I'm disabled and can't. Besides, for the last 30 years, I've been a dentist and needed to protect my mitts. I'm retired now and I sit at the feet of the experts to learn. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to te HAMB. I'm sure you'll find many big models here to model your little models after. Post some photos of your work for us all to enjoy.
Welcome to the HAMB. Sounds like you need to check in on Sundays, or should I say Saturdays. That's when all those who spend the weekend bashing on the plastic parts post pix and everyone sits back and goes oooh, aaah. I personally can't wait to see some of your work, I love the larger scale stuff. You really don't have to wait though. I doubt anyone would complain if you posted a couple teaser pix. Vance
Here is an engine I'm working on now. It's a blown flathead where the 6-71 blower is scratch mounted to the Edelbrock manifold. The distributor, the dipstick, carb linkages, fan, pulleys and sparkplugs are scratchbuilt. The plugs actually screw in and out. I still have to beef up the pulleys so they'll "run" the blower and add a bunch of other details. Here goes.
WOW! Those are incredible! If you ever come out of retirement, let me know. I got a tooth I'd like to talk to you about. POST MORE!!!! Put them on the main board so more will see them. Keep 'em comin... Vance
Dang...nice work. Some guys post models on Sunday, though I must say that would be suitable for our weekly Friday Art Show.
