Hey guys. My name is, well, my user name - Ryan. Ive been snooping around here for a while but finally registered last week after purchasing a dream car of mine a 1954 Chevrolet 210 2dr Sedan. A little background on me, first. I was born and raised in MN and have lived elsewhere, but wound up back in the Twin Cities for good in April. Ive always been into cars and racing. I used to use the cardboard boxes at Christmas time as little hot rods. My first foray into modifying cars came with a Honda when I was 16. Intake, header, exhaust, coilovers - that type of performance stuff. Luckily I got out of that phase pretty quick and moved onto a turbo Nissan 240sx. I drove it for several years before making my way to a local track day event, and spent the next 8 years turning rubber into smoke and building up my skill set as a driver. I competed as an amateur on the national level and earned my Professional license in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Along the way I taught myself how to MIG and TIG weld and fabricate as it was way to expensive to race and have somebody else build my roll cages/ suspension/ etc. So I took a couple years off to build my next car. I took a 5.7 LS6, connected a GFORCE dog box to it and put it into a second generation Mazda RX7. The car was 100% built in full by myself, from the engine mounts, roll cage, full scratch wiring, suspension modification and setup. I moved out to the Los Angeles area to compete in the most compe***ive Pro/Am series to re-earn my professional license. I ended up winning the championship my first season and secured my license. This is a quick clip of the very first time I drove the car. http://youtu.be/jEfm3pk2Fgw Out at Willow Springs on their Horse Thief Mile road course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhJgtDGmcG4 The next year I took off to work for a professional team as a spotter/mechanic to learn the ins and outs of the series and industry. What I saw turned me off from competing so thoroughly that I decided it was time for a new phase Cl***ics and Hot Rods! Out goes my race car and in comes a 66 Chevrolet C10 Custom. I looked for a few months online, going to see as many in person as I could, before getting discouraged. One day I decided to try to search somewhere you dont usually find cl***ics regular old Auto Trader. There was a nice gold C10 down in San Diego. They wanted 10k for it. Not in my budget, but it is fun to go and look at this type of stuff. The truck turned out to be a great driver and the owner so flexible on the price it was crazy. It bought it on the spot and drove it back to LA averaging almost 80 mph A month ago I started getting the itch to get a winter project. The C10 is a great truck, but I dont want to modify it. The 53-54 Chevrolet cars are favorites of mine (the 54 a bit more so) and so I started looking around. Being in MN a lot of them are rotted quite badly. I wound up finding a drivable 54 in usable condition for a decent price and ******ed it up. After a very quick initial clean up Plans for now are; -Drivetrain and steering maintenance -12v conversion -Lower it cheap for the summer 3 blocks in the rear and cut spring/ modified lowers up front. (Im planning on Mustang II full front and S10 rear for next winter. -Chrome steelies with some white walls -replace windshield and door gl*** -drive drive drive. As the project develops this winter I would love to start a build thread on it, even though it is not going to be anything too unique or crazy for this summer. Also, I am not familiar with this forum software apparently, as I can't figure out how to embed the YouTube videos or make the last picture smaller. Any help would be appreciated!
Jesse, It is the 'shelf' in the last picture behind the 210 It will go up for sale in a few weeks as I want to focus on the '54 and have it rock solid for the summer!
I just want what I have into it to make a clean brake, which is $950 at this point. The only trim it is missing is the grill and the rear trunk tear drops. All else is there as far as I know. My '66 will also be going up for sale. Tho around spring time so potential buyers can drive it. I want to get a '50 3100 to replace it with!
