Hello all, I recently purchased a 54 Victoria and will be starting the restore soon. The car is complete and original. Thinking of going with a modern drive train vs rebuilding the old.
Welcome, Mort, from another SoCal'er. I'm using a 351 with AOD and a '70 Maverick rear axle. The car is a '54 Club Coupe.
Mort, when you get ready to start collecting parts put the word "sticky" in search here and a bunch of goodies will come up with part numbers you will need for the swap.

Welcome to the group. I'm also in San Diego, but I'm downtown. I've got a 351W with a C6 in mine and that seems to work out fine when its running.

Hey there, have fun with the Vicky! I have a '54 tudor with a 302 hooked up to the original 3 speed. Easy swap and runs great!
Mort go to the control panel on the left hand side of the screen on the main board and click on "edit avatar". Then upload an image from your library or online. If you need any further help shoot me a pm.
A nice 302/5.0 roller cam engine would be a great choice with either a T5 trans or an AOD trans . Depending on the gear ratio , if you don't build big HP & Torque engine , you can use the rear you have now . Now if you had a 6 cyl with a standard trans in your car , you will have to either change the gears or the easiest thing to do will be sap out your rear for either a 8" rear from an early to mid 70's Mustang , Comet , Maverick , Cougar . The gear ratios ate usually 2.79 , 3.00 but some have 3.25 ratios . You can also get a rear from a 1957 car and up 9" rear that will work as well . The gear ratios for them are endless that you can but . The width will be fine from the cars up to the early to mid 70's . If you are really lucky you might find a 9" rear from a Cougar or Mustang ! We can give you all the information and where to get some parts at the Very BEST prices around ! Disc brake conversion's are also east to get . Good Luck with your project ! Jim
