4X4 S-10 is the one you want, the 2wd S-10 rears are to skinny. Yes, the 2nd gen F-bodies are also a good choice. There is like a million threads on converting your car to an open drive line. Do a search there is a ton of good info on your car on here. Are you planning on keeping the six? They are fun!

i found a rear end on craigslist out of a camaro i don't know if its 8.5 or 8.2 but its a ten bolt 4.10 gears and posi i'm gunna go look at it tomarrow.
no the guy i got it from had the engine but he said it was locked up so i left it there. gunna put a small block in it. id like a 327 but prolly just do a 350 for now since theyre easy to find and cheap.

  7. When you make the switch i might be interested the torque tube rearend....
If it came with a powerglide its got better hiway gearing, 3.55, then the earlier years, or those with a standard transmission. Us guys that keeep the enclosed drive shaft likem.

If you havent found it already, chevs of the 40s can be a good place for parts. They have an online store, but its worth getting the catalog.
Its amazing how much stuff is at your local parts hut.

1st thing you should do is get on ebay and get a good shop manual....
Heres an online version for ya......
