Hello everyone! Please allow me to introduce myself... My name is Christiana. I'm from New York City and have loved old cars pretty much since day one. I have a 1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan in the garage waiting for improvments and the spring time so we can go driving. I have been reading the message boards for a while and just worked up the nerve to join. I am still learning and will probably do a LOT more reading than posting, but I wanted to say hello! ~ Christiana
Really and truly from New York City? I didn't think anyone owned old cars in that city!!! Where do you have to hide them? How do you keep them from showing up in TV shows all burnt and dismantled in some empty lot? Hmmm, maybe I watch too much TV...think? FWIW, welcome from a Chevy lover... R-
Thank you everyone for the welcomes!! Yorgatron - I can stand up to some harrassment, no problem! Thank you for the warning, though. Scott - Always a pleasure to meet someone with a Fairlane I will try to post a picture right now... 40StudeDude- I am really and truely from New York City, born and raised. The car is not here with me, she is safely in a garage at my mom's house in the 'burbs. I learned the hard way... You don't watch too much T.V., my first car, a '78 Camaro that I loved, was set on fire infront of my apartment 13 years ago... *Very* upsetting. The neighborhood is a lot better now, but I don't take anymore chances!
[ QUOTE ] someone named cherryblossom is going to show up pretty soon here and harass you.ignore her. [/ QUOTE ] Now that wasn't very nice. CB isn't like that at all. Right Mike
Welcome, post some pics of the '56. I've got a '55 Club Sedan. Which engine are you running in yours. If it is the Y block, (even if it isn't) you might also want to join the following sites for questions you have that are specific to your car... http://www.y-blocksforever.com (click on forums and join) www.yahoogroups.com (do a search for Y blocks).
Holy crap! There are women here? Does your husband know your talking about his car on the Internet? Next thing you know we'll be letting them vote. Or drive! Joke, it's a joke! Hey, country folk, not all city cars are chopped up and set on fire! Although mine is. But I did that myself! Hey girl, do you frequent Manitoba's? It seems to be the place for cool car people, although parking sucks. You can always drive that thing down to Jersey, you can still see pre-60's cars hanging out in Asbury most nights.
Whatever you do, don't use the word "chicky". Cherry hates the word "chicky". Did I mention that Cherry hates the word "chicky"? Not that she has a "chicky" avatar or anything...
A warm welcome. Used to live on 120th st. in Manhattan, practically Canada I think, when I was a little kid. You'll have fun here, and get a lot of truly expert advice (from the experts, not me, but I'll pipe up now and then).
I dig that 60 Poncho Repoman. I go to NYC every now and again. Have a great time people watching and partying. I am friend with the a few car guys in the city. I am from Philly. Larry
Hey Larry, if you're in Philly, you should cruise over to Asbury Lanes. Asbury lanes myspace page Closer than Manhattan for you. I'll be there tomorrow with the 60. It's only 30 miles south for me.
Yes, we New Yorkers are a tough bunch. I find myself defending my car daily, and that's just to my family! Deyomatic - Right now, I have a '66 289 in the car. That's what she came with. I wish I had the Y block, but it's long gone. I am going to swap it out soon, though, and am still deciding on what to go with. Repoman- Yes, women! Here! I used to go to Manitoba's quite a lot, but not much lately. I have never been to Asbury, but was thinking of checking it out. Hopefully, the picture worked... I am still trying to figure out the board and posting! If so, it's from the summer and I have gotten her some new wide whites since the pic was taken.
Welcome, Christiana... I got one question for you............ How do you train horses in NYC? do you train them in Central Park? I commend anyone for trying to keep a hot rod or any car in the city......... good luck and tell us what you pay for parking so we can piss our pants....
