Nice ol' Ford. Where do you train horses in NYC? My sister in Ca. is into mules. She rides them on the beach sometimes. Here's my favorite horse pic. Welcome to the funny farm. pigpen
LOL, he asked same question, we're perplexed.... I'm thinking she commutes all the way to Long Island to train horses, like the opposite of everyone on Long Island traveling to the city to work. i would make the appointments weekends only and that would cut the time down alot.
welcome to the Hamb. Nice ride. Do'nt be afraid to ask Hambers any questions. There is usually at least one person on here who can help.
Thanks again, everyone! I look forward to reading everything on this board and asking the least stupid questions I can! Laney the Fairlane thanks you too, she is looking forward to me learning more. More time driving, less time staring aimlessly at her engine! Nads- Who's Mike Brown? I'm not his ex... I don't think... Haa haa... No, seriously, not me. PigPen - Love the pic, very cute mini! The horses are in New Jersey and Upstate New York... Long Island isn't an option as I try to stay off the Long Island (Parking Lot) Expressway as much as possible... I do reverse commute, though! Parking for me here in this city I can't seem to move out of is free for me. I park the (new daily driver) truck on the street. The Fairlane is at mom's in her garage... But, just for the sake of amusement, the "private" underground garage across the street from me is $675 a month. The one down the street is $450. More for luxury cars and large SUVs. Got to love this friggin' town!! ~ Christiana
holy shit. the parking is even more than i imagined.... good thing people make good money in new york.
[ QUOTE ] Whatever you do, don't use the word "chicky". Cherry hates the word "chicky". Did I mention that Cherry hates the word "chicky"? Not that she has a "chicky" avatar or anything... [/ QUOTE ] Oh boy! Welcome to the HAMB. Another GAL on here only makes it that much more interesting! Ask all your silly questions, there is always somebody to answer it, give their opinion or laugh at ya....all in good fun though!! x Brandy
Welcome aboard! That's a good looking '56 Ford you got there. Those mid-50's Ford are pretty sweet, but if you wanna really kick ass, you need some Mopar power in that thing!
Welcome from Texas. Hope you get that ford going. This is a good place to ask someone for help or parts. Keith
[ QUOTE ] someone named cherryblossom is going to show up pretty soon here and harass you.ignore her. [/ QUOTE ] It's not FUN if you WARN people. How can one attack without the element of SURPRISE. As for this new girl...she does the horse thing. I did the horse thing for many years, and would still be doing so if we didn't have a car hobby to tend to. So, with that said...she hasn't done anything for me to give her shit about yet. For the record : I don't hate all girls, just most of them.
[ QUOTE ] Nads- Who's Mike Brown? I'm not his ex... I don't think... Haa haa... No, seriously, not me. [/ QUOTE ] Mike used to be from Brooklyn and a member of the Rumblers till he moved back to FL. Nads, wrong person.
CherryBlossom - I hope not to do anything to feel any wrath. I'm not bad, though, for a girl... Joe- Thanks! Love my car! I'm hoping to get her out to some car shows this spring and summer. Maybe we'll see you and Lenore out there! Oh, and thank you for clearing up the Mike Brown thing. I've been sitting here for hours trying to figure out if I'd forgotten something I shouldn't have... There are some vent windows I have to go stalk on eBay... Hope everyone has a great night! ~ Christiana
Welcome aboard. My older brother had one of those 56's when he was in high school. 272 Y Block with a 4 barrel and a 3 spd trans with a 6 volt elec system. Lots of times on cold mornings it wouldn't start, so I have to help him push it down the street to "bump" start it (this was pushing it by hand). It was a really nice rust free car that I put a few clutches in for him (street racing damage). I miss the car, but not getting woken up to push it in the early morning.
Ah thank GOD some one else from NY, I though it was only Pontiac Bil and Me. well Hello from the Long Island parking lot. yah its a bitch to drive in and out of town aint it. not that you'll be out here often but stop by and say hello if you are. FRITZ Bellmore, NY
This, like so many other girl posts will come and go. A side from a few great regulars who clearly show talent and care for the hobby, most of these girls just need attention. They come here and get slobbered over, shut down the computer, take a shower and you never hear from them again. I think thats why girls like Cherryblossom, Actiongirl, Gracie get alittle touchy when another Chicky "cums" onboard. The smell of testostorone gets obnoxious.... I for one immediately get turned off when a girl has to state that she is the opposite sex on her intro subjectline. I hope you Prove me wrong.

Welcome aboard. I will now thank my lucky stars that I do not have to pay for parking our collection.
Welcome to the HAMB. I vote for a Y-Block, but I'm partial to them. Here's a shot of the 292 in my '57 Fairlane.

[/ QUOTE ] I am sure there have been many girls who came to this, and other, boards for attention. I, for one, couldn't care less about "attention" or "slobbering". Showers are nice, though. I am sorry if my subject line was offensive, I was introducing myself and felt it was an appropriate one at the time. I came here for information and to learn. I love my car. I do all the work I can, without a lift, by myself. I wanted to reach out to a community for inspiration and knowledge so I can keep my car running well and safely. Maybe I will prove you wrong, maybe I won't. Can't please everyone... BigJim- I think it must have been a '55? I have a stock 12 volt in my car... I don't blame you for not wanting to help push start it in the mornings, though! Sean - That looks great! I haven't made any final desisions on the engine replacement yet, but am certainly considering a Y block. My 289 is running, and running reasonably well for short drives, so I am taking my time thinking it all through.
Welcome from Wisconsin. Bunch of nice people here and three jerks so far, you'll know em when you see em. Tom
[ QUOTE ] Maybe your brother had a 55. 1956 was the first year for Ford to use 12 volt [/ QUOTE ] You are right. I talked to my brother this morning and he said it WAS a 55. Brain fade on my part (it still was a really straight, rust free car, that he should have kept).

[/ QUOTE ] For the record, I have not, nor will I ever get "touchy" about another female just because she wants to join the HAMB. This hobby needs more women (and new blood in general). The people that join this board out of anything other than passion for the hobby always disappear into the ether eventually and those of us who really want to be here always will. That being said, welcome to the HAMB, new gal. Stacey
Amen to action girl. I believe in "the more, the merrier" and "viva la difference" and all that. I'd like to say I don't care what sex you are, but fact is, I'd like to see more women get into the greasy life - good for both of us. We all learn from each other - if we want to, and I do. I hope you find as much good info (and entertainment) as I have here...Welcome, and thanks for giving me one more thing to be grateful for today: I've been to your city, and can't comprehend having to pay so much for the privilege ($650 to park your car?!)...
