Hey everybody! Been around motorcycles most of my life, but starting my first rod. It's a well worn 48' F1. I hear this is the place with the knowledge, so I am hear to learn. Lookin' forward to talkin' with everyone.
hey TEX...welcome. 48 ford, that's a good start. yea theres plenty of help here. and if your planing on keeping the flathead, well there are many old flathead owners here. actualy i would say more than any place else. hope you enjoy it here! call me POP...or the old FART!
Cool man! Make sure to put up build pics or even better start a build thread. These guys will give you more support than you can believe if you do that. Check out grits build thread to see what I mean. If that cat don't inspire you then you don't have a pulse lol.I only wish I new about the HAMB when I started my build. Enjoy yourself! John
I'm from Springtown too. For your flathead needs, you should talk to Dickie Patterson here in town. He runs a repair shop and build serious hotrods. Also, lobucrod is here in town too. I have a powdercoating shop if you need work done.
Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'll post pics as soon as I can. Not much to put up yet, but I'll throw up a few in the next couple of days. As for my engine, I might upset a few "purists". I bought my truck sans flathead. It had an FE engine very crudely mounted in it that was full of water. I had a couple of Bowtie small blocks just laying around, so that is what I'm putting in. I have a T10 4-speed that will be backing it up all going to a Ford 9 inch. I know...what a mess, but that is what I had. I'm glad there are some Springtown folks on here. Any work I need done I'd like to keep local. You know, support my local economy. Thanks again everyone Brent
nothing wrong with using what you got, man... the only reason i aint is what i got is a pinto motor and i dont think that'll do for a Stude, lol cant wait to see pics!
